da pixbet: According to reports in The Mirror, Newcastle United look set to sign controversial Chelsea outcast Kenedy on a season-long loan deal.
What’s the word, then?
da betway: Well, The Mirror says that Magpies manager Rafa Benitez moved quickly to bring the left-sided Brazilian to St James’ Park after learning that he was available on loan.
The 21-year-old caused controversy for the Blues last month when he was sent home from their pre-season tour of China after posting some offensive messages via his social media accounts, which The Mirror says didn’t go down well in the Far East.
The Premier League holders were forced to apologise for Kenedy’s actions and are now ready to let him go and get some regular football to prove that he still has a future at Stamford Bridge – something that looks likely to happen with Newcastle.
How did Kenedy do last season?
It was a tough campaign for the Brazilian and with first team opportunities likely to be limited under Antonio Conte, he was sent on loan to Premier League rivals Watford last summer.
However, a knee injury meant that the 21-year-old only appeared once for the Hornets before returning to his parent club, and he went on to make just one more outing for the Blues before the season came to a close – ironically in the 4-3 win against Watford at Stamford Bridge in May.
Would he be a good signing for Newcastle?
He certainly would be.
Kenedy is able to play at left-back as well as further forward and as well as providing some much-needed competition for Paul Dummett in the full-back position, he will give Newcastle a fresh attacking threat on the left-hand side too – a position where they are a little short.
While they have the likes of Matt Ritchie, Christian Atsu and Jacob Murphy on the right flank, they aren’t blessed with as many as options on the left and Benitez will hope that the Brazilian can become a key player for them in what could prove to be a difficult return to the Premier League.
What’s the verdict, then?
Well, a loan move to Newcastle seems to be the best deal for all parties as it will give the 21-year-old a platform to prove himself in the Premier League, and the Magpies will hope they are getting a player with a big point to prove and some impressive performances to go with it.
